Clinical Psychology
Jack Baker is an adjunct faculty supervisor for 3rd year clinical psychology Ph.D. students. He is also a co-owner of Nouveau Psychological Wellness, a private practice in Arlington, Virginia providing therapy and assessment services for children, adolescents, and adults.
Dr. Baker specializes in the treatment of chronic shame, difficulty tolerating uncertainty, and self-dislike, as well as the anxiety and depression that can stem from these issues. He approaches training and supervision through a structured, evidence-based, and relational lens. His supervisory style integrates CBT, ACT, DBT, and trauma-informed frameworks while maintaining a down-to-earth, collaborative atmosphere that encourages curiosity, humility, and clinical confidence.
Dr. Baker is particularly interested in helping trainees conceptualize cases involving shame, uncertainty intolerance, suicidality, OCD, trauma, and personality pathology. He supports students in developing strong risk assessment skills, delivering skills-based interventions, and applying exposure-based treatments with clarity and ethical care. His supervision emphasizes practical skill-building, thoughtful case formulation, and helping students tolerate their own uncertainty as developing clinicians.
Dr. Baker is committed to culturally responsive, neurodiversity-affirming, and LGBTQIA+-affirming practice. He encourages trainees to integrate evidence-based treatment with attunement to identity, context, and systemic factors. His goal in supervision is to help students grow into confident, flexible clinicians who can balance structure with warmth and precision with authenticity.
