Industrial-Organizational Psychology

Members of the IO Faculty

The industrial/organizational (IO) psychology concentration focuses on multiple aspects of behavior in organizational settings, including personnel selection, quantitative analysis, teams, leadership, work and family issues, and organizational health issues. Mason’s work in this area emphasizes research as the key to knowledge in both academic and applied settings. The program fosters a peer-oriented environment whereby students collaborate on numerous projects in addition to working with faculty members, in many different areas of industrial/organizational psychology.

UN Global Compact

In 2016, the IO program joined the signatories of the United Nations Global Compact. The program supports the Global Compact by advancing its ten principles for human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption. We are proud that this program integrates these principles in curriculum, research, and professional projects that directly relate to the Global Compact.

Research

Every day, Mason faculty and students help solve pressing problems, illuminate important issues, and shape conversations. We work to answer questions of relevance through research, scholarship, and creative endeavors—any enterprise offering the chance to break new ground and have a meaningful impact.

One of IO's major goals is to train students to teach and do research on basic and applied issues in organizational behavior for employment in such settings as universities, research institutes, and organizations. Learn more about how our faculty are collaborating with other students in their research labs. At all levels, our students are able to provide valuable input to the research process resulting in award-winning publications and presentations at research symposiums.

At Mason, we prepare our students for success in life and in their careers. One of IO's major goals is to train students to do applied work in IO psychology, including personnel selection, quantitative analysis, teams, leadership, work and family issues, and organizational health issues. Meet a student (Bachelors, Masters, Doctoral) or alum, and learn more about how Mason is making an impact.
