Dr. Shari R. Metzger (Jurik) has been an adjunct instructor of introductory I/O Psychology statistics since Fall 2017 at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC)- Shady Grove campus.  Summer 2021 is her first semester at George Mason University, and she is very excited to join the faculty of the Applied I/O Psychology program at GMU.  Dr. Metzger earned her Ph.D. in Applied Developmental Psychology at UMBC- main campus.  Her dissertation focused on children's math utility conceptions (how useful children think math is outside of the school context) and how those conceptions relate to their parents' conceptions of their math achievement.  More generally, Dr. Metzger's research interests include schooling and educational development, children's conceptions of mathematics and how those conceptions relate to motivation, home experiences, and achievement, and program evaluation.

In addition to her research and teaching, Dr. Metzger serves as a Senior Research Analyst at Prince George's Community College in Largo, MD.
