Heewon Jang is a doctoral student in the Industrial-Organizational Psychology Program at George Mason University, working under the mentorship of Dr. Seth Kaplan. Her academic career goal is to create healthier, more fulfilling, and meaningful work environments through the lens of I-O Psychology.
Prior to her time at Mason, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and Social Psychology from Sookmyung Women’s University in Seoul, South Korea, and her Master of Science degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Angelo State University in Texas.
Her current research interests focus on occupational health psychology, with a focus on employee well-being, work-non-work interface, occupational stress, and detachment/reattachment. She is interested in exploring the factors surrounding these areas and applying this knowledge to develop interventions aimed at enhancing employee well-being and fostering meaningful work experiences. Also, she is particularly interested in examining occupational stress in virtual work environments, including phenomena like Zoom fatigue, as well as exploring the underlying mechanisms of virtual work.
In addition to her research, Heewon is passionate about teaching and mentoring. She enjoys her role as an instructor for Research Method.
