Emi Shannon is a MA student in Industrial-Organizational Psychology at George Mason University. She currently is involved in research projects around work values shifts, gig worker identity management, and Zoom fatigue but has a wide range of research interests including employee well-being, gig economy, occupational health, organizational shocks, I-O topics in the performing arts, and team & leader development.
She earned a B.M. in music performance (voice) and a B.A. in Psychology with honors from Florida Southern College. Her honors thesis explored the use of a Blue Mind intervention through audiovisuals paired with classical music inspired by water or natural water sounds to improve college student well-being after single use or multiple uses. It was recently published in the Journal of Scientific Psychology.
Emi currently is completing a fellowship at Marriott International Headquarters focusing on global leadership development. She is involved on campus as an Advising Editor for the Industrial-Organization Newsletter (I-ON) and as the Director for the Volunteer Program Assessment (VPA).
