Applied Developmental Psychology

Emily is a second-year Master's student in Dr. Curby's Development in School Contexts (DISC) lab. She received her B.S. in Psychology from Virginia Tech University and graduated Summa Cum Laude in May 2023. While at Virginia Tech, she was able to get involved in research under Dr. Breaux in the CALMER Lab where she worked directly with children to assess what factors played a role in children's developmental outcomes. Emily's research now focuses on how teachers play a role in children's development, specifically how social-emotional learning takes place in the classroom. She hopes to one day use this research as well as her background working in schools to make a difference in policy reform.
