This course equips students with a comprehensive foundation in usability testing by providing them with the knowledge and practical skills needed to design, conduct, and analyze usability tests effectively. Through a hands-on, project-oriented learning approach, students will engage in the full lifecycle of usability evaluation—from planning and test design to data collection, analysis, and iteration—ensuring they are well-prepared to contribute to the development of intuitive, user-friendly products and interfaces. In addition to core usability testing techniques, students will also be introduced to the fundamentals of rapid prototyping, accessibility, and inclusive design. By the end of the course, students will not only understand best practices in usability and design but will also have tangible experience creating and testing interfaces that meet the diverse needs of users. Offered by Psychology. May not be repeated for credit.
Recommended Prerequisite: Six graduate credits in Human Factors and Applied Cognition or permission of instructor.
