This course is a survey of training in organizations. By the end of this course, you will be able to: Discuss the psychological principles and applied techniques of growing work-related knowledge, skills, and abilities, apply best practices in training needs analysis, training program design, and training evaluation, determine the best methods for training and employee development, aligned to the needs of the organization and the participants, discuss contemporary issues for organizational trainers to consider.

Overview and critique of training methods used in industry from viewpoint of psychological theory, including simulations, on-the-job training, supervisory/leadership skills training, computer-assisted instruction, and programmed texts. Principles of needs analysis, program development, and program evaluation are discussed within framework of industrial psychology. Limited to three attempts.
Recommended Prerequisite: PSYC 333, PSYC 320 (may be taken concurrently) or permission of instructor.
