The Department of Psychology

The Department of Psychology  is housed within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) and currently serves approximately 1600 undergraduate majors (BS/BA), 100 MA, 180 MPS, and 80 PhD students.  

The department strives to generate new psychological knowledge and promote the application of knowledge in ways that enhance human potential for all individuals. We do this through our own research and our deep commitment to the teaching and mentorship of students in psychological ideas.

The department has five graduate program areas: Applied Developmental Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Cognitive & Behavioral Neuroscience, Human Factors and Applied Cognition, and Industrial-Organizational Psychology.

Center for Evidence-Based Behavioral Health

The Center for Evidence-Based Behavioral Health (CEBBH) facilitates access to culturally responsive, evidence-based behavioral health interventions by supporting research, offering free training, and evaluating outcomes, aiming to bridge the gap between research and practice and train the next generation of researchers and clinicians.

Mason’s Center for Community Mental Health 

The Center for Community Mental Health of George Mason University provides psychological assessment and treatment services to the Northern Virginia community. The Center is a training facility for graduate psychology students and a setting for clinical research investigations.
