Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience Concentration

A focus of the program is on translational neuroscience-complementary study of neural systems in humans and animals, including the application of animal research to human behavior. Prospective students should review each faculty member's webpage for more information. This concentration focuses on studying biological substrates of behavior.

Our Core and affiliated faculty study areas as diverse as: Neural control of behavioral development; Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) in humans and animals; animal models of learning and memory; role of metals in alzheimer's disease and traumatic brain injury; brain systems involved in human error, decision making, movement, and perception of space and time; The relation of neural activity to human performance; Social Neuroscience. 

Accelerated Master's Program

Highly-qualified Mason psychology majors may apply to an accelerated master's degree in psychology with a concentration in cognitive and behavioral neuroscience.  This program makes it possible for students to complete two graduate classes during their last 30 credits of their undergraduate degrees.

Students are encouraged to obtain laboratory experience before applying. Interested undergraduates should contact the department.
