  1. Robyn Mehlenbek was accepted and attended the APA Leadership Institute for Women in Psychology held this summer.

 

 

Faculty Grants/Research

  1. 1.      Dr. Doris Bitler and Dr. Marjorie Battaglia were awarded the SEGUE Grant. Total anticipated funding is $14,667.00.
  2. 2.      Dr. Patrick McKnight was awarded a new grant titled: APS/Statistics Websites. This award is sponsored by the Association of Psychological Science (APS). Total anticipated funding is $4,000.000.
  3. 3.      Dr. Susanne Denham was awarded a new grant titled: USDoED/EC Teachers as Socializers. This award is sponsored by The Department of Education. Total anticipated funding is $1,567,774.00.
  4. 4.      Dr. June Tangney was awarded a new grant titled: NIH/Jail Based Treatment NIDA FY 11. This award is sponsored by Department of Health & Human Services-  NIH. Total anticipated funding is $2,764,526.00 
  5. 5.      Dr. June Tangney received an extension to her award titled: NIH/Distress & Impulse/Intervention. This award is sponsored by the Department of Health & Human Services (NIH). Total anticipated funding to date is: $124,140.00.
  6. 6.      Dr. Bob Smith received an extension to his award titled: Adolescent Nicotine: From the First Experience to Neural Remodeling.  This award is sponsored by the Virginia Tobacco Settlement Foundation. Total anticipated funding to date is $538,670.00.  
  7. 7.      Dr. Raja Parasuraman received an extension to his award titled: AFOSR/CENTEC. This award is sponsored by the U.S. Air Force. Total anticipated funding to date is $5,000,000.00.
  8. 8.      Dr. Raja Parasuraman received an extension to his award titled: NIH/Apolipoprotein E, Attention and Alzheimer’s Disease.  This award is sponsored by the National Institutes of Health. Total anticipated funding to date is $2,561,004.00.
  9. 9.      Dr. Bob Pasnak and Dr. Julie Kidd received an extension to their grant titled: Education Research. This award is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education. Total anticipated funding to date is: $1,577,828.00.

 

 

Student Activities

  1. Congratulations to the following students who were inducted into the first class of the GMU Chapter of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. Juniors so honored were: Kathrine Phillips, Caroline Ruiz, and Monique Romeo. Seniors were: Erica Hall, Thomas Huggins, Akifa Ishtiaq, Natalie Kiddie, Steven Scheid, Hibah Khan, Sharon McKew, Joo Park, Emily Pinero, Jason Seifert, and Kaitlin Seifert. Master’s student Katy Butler and doctoral student Brian Taylor were also inducted into this class. Faculty members Linda Chrosniak and Deborah Boehm-Davis were also part of this inaugural class.
  2. Recent graduate Yong-Bee has been accepted into Mason's Biodefense M.S. Program. For Fall 2011.
  3. Recent graduate Masha Barker has been accepted into Mason’s Educational Psychology Masters Program for Fall 2011.
  4. Recent graduate Nabila Khan has been accepted into Mason Masters in Public Administration Program for Fall 2011.
  5. Doctoral student in BioPsychology; Gina Fernandez has been appointed as the Biopsychology representative on the APA Science Student Council
  6. HFAC students working on the Distractions N Driving Demo were invited by Chief Judge Thomas Mann to present at the licensing ceremony in Fairfax County this summer. It was very well received and he is now extending the invitation to all Fairfax County judges and Chiefs of Police for Fairfax County and Fairfax City.
  7. ADP doctoral student Daniel Zapp defended his dissertation.
