The George Mason University Department of Psychology is celebrating continued recognition for the strength and growth of its academic program, with Psychology earning recognition among the nation’s leading programs in the latest rankings.
In its 2027 Best Colleges rankings, U.S. News & World Report included Psychology among George Mason University’s eight undergraduate programs recognized nationally. All eight programs ranked among the top four in Virginia, highlighting the strength of Psychology alongside other highly regarded programs across the university.
For the Department of Psychology, the latest recognition reflects continued momentum in the program. Psychology is now ranked 83rd nationally, tied, and 44th among public universities, an improvement from its previous rankings of 113th nationally and 59th among public universities.
The department's work also contributes to the broader recognition of Mason as a university known for innovation. In its 2027 rankings, U.S. News & World Report named George Mason the No. 1 university in Virginia for innovation and 42nd nationally. Psychology's inclusion among the university's nationally recognized undergraduate programs is an important part of that story.
