This online course will provide undergraduate students with the opportunity to learn basic therapeutic skills through intensive instruction and supervision, and support either the English or Spanish-speaking community through the GMU Center for Community Mental Health emotional support lines. Students will learn how to build rapport, assess the varied needs of individuals in distress and provide appropriate emotional support. Students will apply skills learned in the course by answering the calls of English or Spanish-speaking callers in need of assistance.  The CCMH emotional support lines are open 12 hours/day, 7 days/week.  Offered by Psychology. May be repeated within the degree for a maximum 6 credits.
Registration Restrictions:

Enrollment is limited to students with a major in Psychology.
