Remembering Dr. Jennifer DiMauro

Jennifer Christine DiMauro, Ph.D. ‘18
1988-2019

The Psychology Department was saddened to hear of the passing of Dr. Jennifer DiMauro, a recent alum of the Clinical Program. She is described as one of those rare individuals who was able to meaningfully connect with a wide variety of people both personally and professionally. A staunch advocate for veterans and survivors of sexual assault, Jennifer entered the clinical psychology program in 2012 and graduated with her PhD in 2018.  

During her time in graduate school, she became a leading assessment expert, serving as a supervisor for new students and taking on complicated assessments. She received strong evaluations for classes she taught, and earned the respect of her cohort. Jennifer was also a talented writer who published 16 articles and gave numerous conference presentations as part of her many accomplishments. She was in a postdoc position at the Washington DC VAMC and was preparing to move to Massachusetts to start as a staff psychologist at the Boston VAMC, when she was struck by a car while walking this summer.

Despite the tragic loss of her life at such an early age, we take comfort in the knowledge that so many were helped by her while she was with us. We are grateful for the time we had with her and miss her dearly.

To honor her memory, Jennifer’s parents, husband, and classmates are working to establish a memorial fund that will support free assessments and therapy for veterans at the George Mason University Center for Psychological Services, where she received her own training, trained others, and worked to help veterans as an assessor and therapist.
