What led you to choose to major in psychology?

I have always been extremely interested in studying people’s behaviors and using that to better their lives.

What have you enjoyed so far about studying psychology?

I have really enjoyed being a part of the Honors Psychology Program. I have learned a lot not only from my research, but also the research my peers are working on. Our class has become close because we are all going through the same process and it makes attending class enjoyable.

Are you involved in any kind of research? If so, what are you working on?

I’m currently working in the Mason Impulse Lab under Dr. Sarah Fischer. In the lab, I am a research assistant for the Evaluating Facebook Usage at George Mason study and the Personality and Mood study. I will also be starting to collect data for my honors project soon!

Are there any extracurricular or other exciting activities you’re involved in?

I am in the Honors Psychology Program, a member of Psi Chi, a Mason Recreation fitness attendant, and on the Mason event staff. I’ve also announced a few of the Mason D1 softball games.

Do you have an interesting “fun fact” about yourself?

I used to be on the D1 softball team at Mason.

What are you career or future academic goals after graduation?

I’m currently in the process of applying to graduate programs to get my PhD in social psychology as well as research positions. Eventually, I hope to have a career researching addictive behaviors and finding ways to prevent their onset.

Do you have any advice for new Mason students?

I would advise students (especially ones applying to grad school) to reach out to as many people as they can early during their time at Mason. Getting to know faculty members makes finding opportunities to get research experience, finding open internship and job positions, and eventually getting help with grad applications much easier. The more faculty members know your personality, interests, and career goals, the more resources you'll have to utilize.
