Section Information for Fall 2021
We will review the evidence for, and against, some popular extraordinary beliefs and the conviction of a “murderer”. A major goal will involve fostering critical thinking and open-minded skepticism. Individual critical thinkers (and true skeptics) can reach different conclusions about complex topics, so information will be presented as objectively as possible. That is, the focus will not be on “debunking”, but on considering various source materials in the context of current scientific knowledge. Students will be expected to develop and defend their own, individual opinions after carefully weighing the evidence.
