The Department of Psychology at George Mason University focuses on producing cutting edge translational research aimed at real-world issues in human behavior, and on providing top-notch training for our students in consuming and generating such research. We are committed to training students at all levels, from high school students who intern with us, through post-doctoral students seeking to gain additional skills after receiving their doctoral degree. Students at all levels have the opportunity to work side by side with our faculty, and many undergraduate students go on to do their own independent research through our undergraduate honors program. The generosity of our alumni and friends provides opportunities for students, support for the programs, and helps to ensure the continued growth and success of our Department.

You may make a gift to the Department of Psychology through one or more of the following giving opportunities:

  1. The Psychology Department Fund supports the students, faculty, and programs that make our department such a unique community of scholars. This fund helps us respond to the strongest needs, which often center around facilitating student development and student/faculty research.
  2. The Psychology Department Endowment Fund is a longer-term investment in the success of our department in training students to understand and generate research on real-world problems.
  3. The Boehm-Davis Endowment for Student Success focuses on enhancing the success of our students, particularly those from diverse backgrounds.
  4. The Center for Psychological Services Fund helps to support accessible, state-of-the-art therapy and testing services for the Northern Virginia/DC community, particularly low-income individuals who struggle to pay even for our low-cost services. This Center also provides hands-on training opportunities for psychology students.
  5. In addition, we have a number of other funds with more specific parameters:
    1. The Psychology Emergency Scholarship (011611) helps students who experience financial difficulties during the year but have few resources to turn to for help.
    2. The Human Factors Student Fund (011615) helps with conference travel, data collection, and other research-related activities for the Human Factors graduate students.
    3. The I/O Student Fund (011608) helps with conference travel, data collection, and other research-related activities for the Industrial/Organization graduate students.
