ARTH 200 is an introductory course in the study of Art History. This course is focused on the art and architecture of the Western world from prehistoric cave paintings to Gothic architecture and art in the late medieval period. Slide lectures, readings, and museum visits will be used to study and understand the history, culture, and arts of this broad period that includes Ancient Egypt, Classical Greece, Imperial Rome, the Byzantine Empire, and the Islamic world.
