Section Information for Summer 2015
The focus of this section of PSYC 405 is anomalistic psychology. In this class, we will review the evidence for, and against, some popular extraordinary beliefs. A major goal will involve fostering critical thinking and skepticism. Individual critical thinkers (and true skeptics) can reach different conclusions about complex topics, so information will be presented as objectively as possible. That is, the focus will not be on “debunking”, but on considering various source materials in the context of current scientific knowledge. Students will be expected to develop and defend their own, individual opinions after carefully weighing the evidence.
PSYC 405-B02 is a distance education section.
