Applications

Admissions Applications are due December 1 each year for the following academic year.

Requirements

Failing to comply with any of these requirements may remove the application from consideration for admission.

  • 15 hours of course work in psychology including the following: (1) Statistics, (2) a Laboratory Science, and (3) Abnormal Psychology.
  • GPA of 3.00 on 4.00 scale for the last 60 hours of undergraduate work and a minimum of 3.25 in undergraduate psychology courses.
  • Transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate educational institutions attended.
  • Scores from a GRE General Test (required) and the Psychology Subject Test (strongly recommended) taken within the last five years. The institutional code for George Mason University is 5827 and the department code is also 5827.
  • Three letters of reference from faculty or supervisors.
  • Departmental Form is required and you can download it from our website (http://www.gmu.edu/departments/psychology/homepage/admissions.htm).
  • George Mason University Application is required and you can download it from the Office of Admissions website (http://admissions.gmu.edu/onapps.asp). In your Goals Statement, please describe your background, experience, and goals in psychology (also include interests and experiences with culturally diverse populations).
  • Participation in an interview is required (by invitation only).
