Clinical Faculty Members Visit Portuguese University of Porto
Four current faculty members and two former faculty members of the clinical doctoral program recently returned from Porto, Portugal where they participated in a five-day Summer Institute on Clinical Psychological Science at the University of Porto.  The program was organized by emeritus faculty member James Maddux, and he was joined by Christianne Esposito-Smythers, Robyn Mehlenbeck, Lauren Cattaneo, Keith Renshaw, and former part-time faculty member Elana Maurin. The goal of the summer institute was to offer workshops on evidence-based interventions in clinical psychology to students, faculty, and practitioners.  Among the topics covered were psychological services in primary health care settings, anxiety disorders, interventions with families, domestic violence, adolescent suicide, and clinical supervision. Financial support for the visit came from the University of Porto and Mason's Office of the Provost, Office of the Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of Psychology, and Center for the Advancement of Well-Being.
